GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving

its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

The Deutsche Gesellscha fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit – GIZ – is a German public- beneft federal enterprise owned by the German Government. As a service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and international education work, GIZ supports the German Government, mainly through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) but also with other international commissioning parties, by implementing projects in the areas including economic development and employment promotion, energy and environment,  peace and security with its development partners in some 120 countries around the world.

In Cambodia, GIZ has worked with the Government of Cambodia starting 1994 in achieving its national development goals and since then implements projects in the areas of rural development. health and social protection. as well as related to good governance. In addition to this, there are a number of special global, regional and sectoral programs with activities in Cambodia. GIZ Cambodia employs more than 250 professionals including around 220 national staff and maintains a GIZ Country Office.

For its GIZ Country Office in Phnom Penh, we are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of ICT Professional.

The holder of the Information and Communication Technology Professional (ICT) is responsible for maintaining, securing, and ensuring the operability of ICT and management systems complying with GIZ IT standards, regularly updating computer hardware, software, and programs, providing technical assistance to projects programs for ICT and database-related questions problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main duties of the position include:

Hardware tasks:

  • Ensuring  hardware  (laptops, desktops, servers, and network  equipment) are up-to-date
  • Configuring and maintaining network switches, routers, firewalls, and access points
  • Ensuring proper operations in the server room
  • Configuring  and installing newly delivered equipment,  as well as decommissioning of old equipment
  • Keeping the system. network and hardware documentation up to date
  • Looking after the maintenance of hardware devices
  • Advising the administrative manager of required new hardware network purchases or improvements.
  • Testing new hardware systems and based on these results the recommendations for the purchase of new systems,
  • upgrading of existing ICT systems and accessories

Software tasks:

  • Installing operating systems and configuring servers and client PCs
  • Installing software on workstation PCs   laptops
  • Maintaining systems documentation software
  • Supporting all standard GIZ software (e.g. MS Office, WinPACCS, SAP-GUI)
  • Testing new or enhanced software programs, and updating all software
  • Keep him/herself informed about known vulnerabilities in firmware, operating systems, applications, and services.
  • Ensuring the proper operation of backup/security programs
  • Ensuring the anti-virus software is up-to-date and well configured.
  • Define all procedures to monitor, check the compliance of all ICT equipment.

Local network tasks:

  • Configuring, maintaining, and documenting the LAN
  • Secure, improve, and documenting the configuration of the wireless LAN
  • IP Configuration for (servers and clients)
  • Create DNS entries
  • Create users
  • Create and adjust shares
  • Join the domain with clients
  • Configuring and documenting the firewall
  • Monitoring the performance of the Internet connections and devise strategies for bandwidth management

Required Skills and ExperiencRequired entry qualifications and competencies:

  • BA in Information Technology / IT Studies or similar (e.g.  MSCE – Microsoft Certified Engineer)
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar position
  • Basic understanding of the Internet (IP, DNS, HTTP, SMTP), Network routing and switching, WLAN protocols, System and Data backup/restore, and Problem analysis (for example tcpview, Wireshark)
  • Certified IT knowledge of the configuration, administration, and operation of LANs, Internet connections, SOL-Server (Microsoft et al.), MS Windows Server, Hardware (PCs, server, printers, routers, switch, UPS, etc.), MS Office software incl. Outlook, MS Windows Professional
  • Very good communication skills and specifically conversant in English language, oral and in writing, or good spoken German is preferable
  • Experience with Cisco Meraki is a plus
