Learning & Research Intern with WaterAid

WaterAid Cambodia was established in 2014 and has ambitious plan to work with a range of stakeholders to support the sector aim of reaching universal access to sanitation and water in Cambodia by 2025. WaterAid Cambodia’s program is based on influencing and make change happen by supporting the government to strengthen system that lead to sustainable
service, inspiring the next generation of WASH leaders by building human resources, especially women and promote collective action and building bridges between sectors by using innovation and adaptive approach.

Learning for change, WASH systems strengthening is a never-ending process. Learning and adaptation play a critical part in WASH systems strengthening. This post will contribute with program teams to continuously learn and adapt from experiences, changing circumstances
and demands, in order to be able to deliver WASH services for everyone, forever. It will help us to assist and work with our program team to promote platforms for the regular sharing of information and the use of data for critical analysis, with insights from multiples stakeholders,
including civic society as well as promote evidence-based influencing work with sector stakeholders respond to learning through adaptation by changing policies and practices, addressing inequalities, failures and working with others to change the way things are done.

Announcement position

Internship (1 position)

  • Title: Learning & Research Intern
  • Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia
  • Working Hour: Full Time
  • Benefit: Allowance ($US150.00 and plus health and personal accident
  • insurance cover)
  • Intership duration: Six months (Full time or part time) – with possible extension to one year
  • Report to: Learning and M&E Coordinator
  • Expected start date: August 2021

Responsibilities

Learning & Research Intern will work closely and collaboratively with the WaterAid Sector Strengthening team and Learning, Effectiveness, Communication and Campaign team to support the implementation of:

  1. Support the implementation of Fiscal Decentralisation in WASH research and knowledge management on the fore-mentioned research work with the national consultant;
  2. Support in WASH sector knowledge management and learning events;
  3. Support in documentation and learning efforts within WaterAid and sector strengthening team;

This internship will provide learning opportunities for the successful candidate to develop skills and knowledge research, coordination and documentation. This is opportunity will equip the candidate to be exposed to international NGO working environment and good understanding working with diverse stakeholders in WASH sector in Cambodia and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in literature review and knowledge management of Fiscal Decentralisation in WASH research
  • Support in WASH sector knowledge management and learning events
  • Support sector strengthening team in setting up knowledge management platform, team learning events, and documentation

Requirements

  1. Qualification: Current student or recently graduated majoring in relevant social science courses
  2. Experience: Team work and timely communications, volunteering experiences is desirable
  3. Knowledge and skills:
    • Essential:
      • Interest in water, sanitation and hygiene work
      • Good command of Khmer Language (verbal and written)
      • Computer literacy (word, excel, PowerPoint and social media, google product…)
      • Communication skills including team work, group discussion and conflict management
    • Desirable:
      • Written and spoken English
      • Knowledge in designing and video editing is a plus
      • Knowledge in digital journalism and digital storytelling
  4. Personal qualities:
    • Interest in water, sanitation and hygiene work
    • Good command of Khmer Language (verbal and written)
    • Computer literacy (word, excel, PowerPoint and social media, google product…)
    • Communication skills including team work, group discussion and conflict management
