Background

The Wildlife Conservation Society, founded in 1895, has the clear mission to save wildlife and wild places across the globe. WCS’s goal is to conserve the world’s largest wild places in 16 priority regions, home to more than 50% of the world’s biodiversity. We currently manage about 500 conservation projects in more than 60 countries.

WCS has been working in partnership with the Royal Government of Cambodia since 1999, providing technical advice and support for the conservation of key habitats and species across the country.

The WCS Cambodia program is growing rapidly! We are expanding our team and are looking for applications from qualified candidates to fill the following position.  Detailed job description of the position is attached.

Duties and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree is desirable) in Rural Development, Development Study, Natural Resource Management, Agriculture, forestry and fisheries, or a related field.
  • Has experience working with government institutions, private sectors, and NGOs for at least ten years in livelihood interventions such as farming, small enterprise, livestock, community mobilization, community-based ecotourism, etc.
  • Has experience in rolling out some or all the programs that will include in the project such as Productivity Enhancement, Climate Smart Agriculture, Sustainable Agriculture Practices, Eco-tourism, and SME, etc.
  • Good understanding of wildlife conservation, protected area management, fisheries management, and land use management.
  • Has experience working on livelihoods-based community institutions such as community protected areas (CPA), community fisheries (CFi), community forests (CF) and agriculture cooperatives (AC), etc.
  • Has experience in networking and partnership with organizations working in farms and livestock.
  • Ability to communicate well in English is preferable.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and teamwork abilities
  • Good knowledge and experience working with poor households.
  • Good analytical/problem-solving, report writing, and critical thinking skills.
  • Good Computer skills and Microsoft Office (Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email).
